About BigBlueButton

BigBlueButton is a free, open-source virtual classroom platform designed specifically to help teachers teach and learners learn online. It supports real-time sharing of audio, video, slides with whiteboard annotations, chat, and screen sharing. Instructors can engage remote students with polling, emojis, multi-user whiteboards, shared notes, and breakout rooms. A Learning Analytics Dashboard provides session analytics visible to moderators in real time. Sessions can be recorded and played back for later sharing. BigBlueButton supports a wide range of educational use cases including one-to-one online tutoring, flipped classroom content recording, group collaboration, and large online classes. The latest version is BigBlueButton 3.0, installable on Ubuntu 22.04 via the bbb-install.sh script in under 30 minutes. It includes GreenLight as its default frontend and exposes a full API for integration with LMS platforms and custom applications.
