Open source virtual whiteboard for creating hand-drawn style diagrams and wireframes, collaborative, end-to-end encrypted, and works in the browser.
Excalidraw is a free, open source whiteboard tool that lets you sketch diagrams with a natural hand-drawn feel. It runs entirely in the browser and requires no account to use. The canvas is infinite and supports a wide range of drawing tools including rectangles, circles, diamonds, arrows, lines, free-draw, and an eraser. Arrows can be bound to shapes and labeled, making it well suited for flowcharts, architecture diagrams, and wireframes. Excalidraw supports shape libraries, image embedding, dark mode, and full localization. Drawings can be exported to PNG, SVG, clipboard, or saved as an open .excalidraw JSON file for portability. The hosted app at excalidraw.com adds real-time collaboration with end-to-end encryption, offline PWA support, local-first autosave, and shareable readonly links. Excalidraw ships as an npm package so developers can embed it in their own apps, and integrations exist for VS Code, Obsidian, Notion, Replit, CodeSandbox, and more. It is used in production by Google Cloud, Meta, HackerRank, and others.
