About FlashSpace

FlashSpace is a blazingly-fast virtual workspace manager for macOS, designed to enhance and replace native macOS Spaces without the animation delays. You define workspaces, assign apps to them, and switch instantly using hotkeys, with support for independent switching across multiple displays. Space Control lets you preview all workspaces on a grid, and Workspace Switcher provides an Option+Tab style switcher similar to the macOS app switcher. Additional features include a Focus Manager for keyboard-based window and display focus switching, a cursor manager that auto-centers the cursor, Profiles for quickly changing configurations, swipe gesture support, floating apps that stay visible across all workspaces, and experimental Picture-in-Picture support across major browsers. Configuration is available through the GUI or config files in JSON, YAML, or TOML, and the app includes a command-line interface and integrations with SketchyBar and Raycast. FlashSpace deliberately avoids managing individual windows or layouts, following the UNIX philosophy of doing one thing well, relying on macOS's native show and hide functionality for efficiency and battery life. It's free and open source under the GNU GPL v3.0 License, and requires macOS 14.0 or later.
