Self-hosted, on-demand audio streaming platform that brings a Spotify-like experience to your own music library, with podcasts, audiobooks, and Lidarr/Soulseek integration.
Kima is a self-hosted audio streaming server that scans your personal music library and enriches it with metadata from MusicBrainz and Last.fm. It streams FLAC, MP3, AAC, and OGG at original quality or transcoded on the fly, and adds line-synced lyrics via LRCLIB. Its standout feature is the Vibe System: a CLAP neural network embeds every track into a navigable 2D map or 3D galaxy view, clustering similar-sounding music together, with Drift (a path between two chosen tracks) and Blend (a queue centered on several tracks at once) as ways to explore it. Kima also generates auto-playlists (era mixes, genre mixes, mood-based mixes), supports podcast subscriptions via RSS, and can browse/stream audiobooks through an Audiobookshelf connection. Playlists can be imported from Spotify, Deezer, or YouTube with ISRC-based track matching. For acquiring new music it can integrate with Lidarr for automated downloads or connect directly to the Soulseek network for rarer finds. It exposes an OpenSubsonic-compatible API for third-party clients (Symfonium, DSub, Ultrasonic, Amperfy), runs as a PWA with offline caching and background playback, and includes a dedicated 10-foot interface for Android TV. Ships as a single Docker container bundling the web app, API, PostgreSQL with pgvector, and Redis, with optional NVIDIA GPU acceleration for audio analysis.
