About Pear Desktop

Pear Desktop is an independent, unofficial Electron-based desktop wrapper for YouTube Music, built by volunteer contributors with no affiliation to Google or YouTube. It preserves the native YouTube Music interface while adding a built-in ad blocker, downloader, audio processing tools, and theme switching, and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The app supports a custom plugin architecture written in TypeScript, letting developers hook into the Electron backend, renderer, and preload contexts to modify behavior or inject custom CSS themes, with community-maintained theme packs already available. Installation is available through native package managers on every platform, including the AUR, Solus's eopkg, Homebrew, Scoop, and Winget, and the project maintains active translation support via Hosted Weblate. Pear Desktop is fully open source under the MIT License, with automated GitHub Actions builds and a strong pace of community-driven releases.
