Open-source patch that transforms GIMP into a Photoshop-like workspace with familiar layouts, shortcuts, and interface customization.
PhotoGIMP is a free and open-source customization patch for GIMP that helps Adobe Photoshop users transition to GIMP with minimal friction. Instead of replacing GIMP, it modifies the application's configuration files to provide a Photoshop-inspired interface, keyboard shortcuts, panel layout, splash screen, and workflow. PhotoGIMP maximizes canvas space, reorganizes tools into familiar positions, and applies Adobe-style shortcut mappings based on Photoshop's Windows documentation. The project works with GIMP 3.0 and newer on Linux, Windows, and macOS. It does not alter user brushes, plugins, fonts, or creative assets, focusing exclusively on configuration, usability, and workflow improvements. PhotoGIMP is community-driven, GPL-3.0 licensed, and designed to make professional image editing more accessible for users moving away from proprietary software.
