About Pixelfed

Pixelfed is an open-source, decentralized photo-sharing platform designed as a privacy-respecting alternative to Instagram. Instead of a single company controlling your data, Pixelfed runs on many independent servers (“instances”) that communicate with each other through the Fediverse (using the ActivityPub protocol). That means you can follow and interact with users across different platforms like Mastodon while keeping control over your own account and content.

Key Features

• Fully open-source and transparent codebase
• Minimizes tracking to protect personal usage patterns
• Strong privacy defaults to reduce unnecessary data exposure
• Pixelfed supports secure workflows for daily usage
• Lightweight setup with dependable performance and control
