Free and open-source application firewall for Windows and Linux that monitors all network activity, blocks trackers and malware, and gives full per-app control.
Portmaster is a privacy suite and application firewall developed in the EU (Austria) by Safing. It integrates into the network stack (nfqueue on Linux, WFP kernel driver on Windows) to intercept every packet and attribute connections to processes. It provides real-time monitoring of all network activity, automatic blocking of trackers and malware via filter lists, global and per-app rules (by domain, IP, country, scope, etc.), Secure DNS with DoH/DoT support and rebinding protection, and support for special processes (Snap, AppImage, Windows Store apps, svchost). Everything runs locally except the optional paid Safing Privacy Network (SPN). Free features cover the core firewall and DNS; Network History, per-app bandwidth, and SPN are paid. Available for Windows and Linux. GPL-3.0 licensed.
