GPU-accelerated, non-destructive RAW photo editor built with Rust and Tauri — a fast, lightweight open-source alternative to Adobe Lightroom.
RapidRAW is a high-performance RAW image editor built on Rust and Tauri, with the entire image processing pipeline offloaded to the GPU through WGPU and a custom WGSL shader, keeping the UI fluid even with multiple masks applied. It supports a wide range of camera RAW formats via the rawler/dnglab decoder, plus standard, HDR, and specialist image formats, with automatic lens distortion, TCA, and vignette correction powered by Lensfun. Editing tools cover tonal adjustments (including AgX tone mapping), full HSL color grading with color wheels, parametric curves, layered AI-assisted masking (subject, depth, sky, foreground detection) combined with manual color/luminance masks, local retouching (clone, heal, liquify), and creative effects like film grain, halation, glow, and lens blur. The library side offers recursive folder browsing, a side-by-side culling view, virtual copies, custom tags, and a filmstrip for fast navigation, alongside batch export, HDR merging, panorama stitching, and a collage maker. AI features run in three tiers: free built-in local tools (AI masking, automatic tagging, simple inpainting), self-hosted integration with a user's own ComfyUI server via the RapidRAW-AI-Connector for full generative control, and an optional paid cloud service for users without capable hardware — all edits stay fully functional without any subscription. All edits are stored non-destructively in a `.rrdata` sidecar file, and the app includes a headless CLI for scripted batch exports. RapidRAW also supports camera tethering (macOS and Linux only) via libgphoto2, covering 2,500+ camera models with live view, real-time exposure control, and automatic image ingestion. It's translated into 13 languages and distributed under AGPL-3.0.
