About RawTherapee

RawTherapee is a professional-grade raw photo editor built around a 32-bit floating-point processing engine, giving photographers precise, non-destructive control over how raw files are demosaiced and developed. It uses a patched version of dcraw for reading raw files, supplemented by in-house code that adds high-quality support for camera models dcraw doesn't cover and improves accuracy for models it does. Beyond standard camera raw formats, RawTherapee also processes HDR DNG files and non-raw formats like JPEG, TIFF, and PNG, with correction tools including dark frame subtraction, flat field correction, and hot/dead pixel removal. Written mostly in C++ with a GTK+ interface, it runs natively on Linux, macOS, and Windows and is localized into more than 15 languages. RawTherapee is intentionally scoped as a raw processor rather than an all-in-one photo manager, so features like digital asset management or direct social sharing are left to other specialized tools in the open-source ecosystem, with RawPedia serving as its comprehensive documentation and feature reference.
