Open-source window management app for macOS, based on Spectacle, that moves and resizes windows using keyboard shortcuts and drag-to-edge snap areas.
Rectangle is a lightweight macOS window manager, rewritten in Swift as a spiritual successor to the discontinued Spectacle app. It lets users snap windows into halves, quarters, thirds, and other grid positions by dragging to screen edges and corners, or by using fully customizable keyboard shortcuts. Beyond basic snapping, Rectangle supports moving windows between displays, resizing only a window's height, per-app shortcut ignoring for apps with conflicting keybindings, and a URL scheme for scripting window actions from the terminal or other tools. Configuration can be imported and exported as JSON for syncing across machines, and debug logging is built in for troubleshooting window-behavior issues. Rectangle is free and open source, while a separate commercial Rectangle Pro app builds additional features like multi-display space switching on top of it.
