Personal, minimalist, database-free bookmarking service you self-host to save and share the links you discover.
Shaarli is a personal, single-user link-sharing service designed to be minimalist, fast, and handy. It requires no database — links are stored in a compact flat-file datastore, making setup and backup as simple as dropping the files on a server and copying the datastore file. Each saved link can carry a custom title, description, and tags, with support for full-text and tag search, tag autocompletion, renaming, and merging. Shaarli offers multiple views including a paginated link list, tag cloud, picture wall for image/video thumbnails, and a newspaper-style daily digest with its own RSS feed, alongside ATOM/RSS feeds for the full link list. Links can be marked public or private, and permalinks make individual entries easy to reference. The project can be extended through plugins and supports importing/exporting bookmarks in the Netscape bookmarks format. It includes basic hardening such as brute-force-resistant login and protection against XSRF and session hijacking. Shaarli is community-maintained (a fork of the original sebsauvage/Shaarli project), built primarily in PHP, and offers an official Docker image alongside a public demo instance for trying it before self-hosting.
