About Shotcut

Shotcut is a free, open-source, cross-platform video editor available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is built on the MLT multimedia authoring framework and uses Qt 6 for its native interface, with FFmpeg providing broad support for video and audio formats and codecs. Shotcut supports multi-track editing, a wide range of video plugins via Frei0r, and cross-platform audio playback via SDL. The project is maintained primarily by Dan Dennedy with contributions from the open-source community, and pre-built binaries are regularly published. Shotcut can be built from source using CMake or Qt Creator for developers and contributors. Translation is community-driven via Transifex. Shotcut is licensed under GPLv3 and is a popular free alternative to commercial video editing software.
