Self-hosted file-processing suite with 200+ tools across image, video, audio, PDF, and documents — convert, compress, OCR, transcribe, and run local AI, all on your own hardware.
SnapOtter is an open-source, self-hosted file-processing platform that consolidates the functionality of tools like CloudConvert, Smallpdf, TinyPNG, and Otter.ai into a single stack, with files never leaving the user's own network. It offers over 200 tools across five modalities: image (107 tools including resize, compress, vectorize, and format conversion across 55+ input formats), video (57 tools including convert, trim, stabilize, and subtitle burning), audio (27 tools including normalize, pitch shift, and noise reduction), PDF (29 tools including merge, OCR, redaction, and signing), and general files (23 tools covering CSV/JSON/XML/YAML conversion and chart generation). A built-in layer-based image editor runs in the browser with brushes, filters, curves, and adjustments, processing entirely on local hardware. Local AI features include background removal, image upscaling, old photo restoration and colorization, object erasing, face blurring/enhancement, OCR text extraction, audio transcription, and automatic video subtitle generation — all running on-device with no internet dependency. SnapOtter supports OIDC/SSO login, 21 languages with RTL support, chainable multi-step pipelines with JSON import/export, a full REST API with interactive docs, and multi-architecture support (AMD64/ARM64, including Raspberry Pi). It deploys via a single Docker command with embedded Postgres and Redis, or as a production Compose stack with optional NVIDIA CUDA acceleration. SnapOtter is dual-licensed under AGPLv3 for free self-hosted use, with a separate commercial license available for proprietary or SaaS deployments where AGPLv3's source-disclosure requirement isn't suitable.
