About Tolaria

Tolaria is a free, open-source desktop application for macOS, Windows, and Linux built for managing markdown knowledge bases. It follows a files-first, git-first, and offline-first philosophy — all notes are plain Markdown files with YAML frontmatter stored in a local Git repository, with no accounts, subscriptions, or cloud dependencies required. Tolaria supports second brain workflows, company documentation, and AI agent memory management, with built-in setup paths for Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI. The app is keyboard-first, designed for power users managing large vaults, and was built from real personal use with a 10,000+ note workspace. Built with Tauri, React, and TypeScript, it offers full version history via Git, a command palette, and type-based navigation without enforced schemas. Available via Homebrew on macOS or direct download for all platforms.
