About Duplicati

Duplicati is a free, open-source backup client that encrypts, compresses, and incrementally backs up your files before sending them to cloud storage or remote file servers. It uses AES-256 encryption (or GNU Privacy Guard) to secure data before upload, so only you hold the key, and supports a wide range of destinations including Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Azure, Dropbox, MEGA, Storj DCS, SFTP, and WebDAV. Only the initial backup transfers full contents; subsequent backups are differential to save bandwidth and storage. A built-in scheduler automates backups, and the app can back up open or locked files via VSS on Windows or LVM on Linux. It's available as a desktop application or a command-line tool for Windows, macOS, and Linux, with advanced options for filters, retention rules, transfer settings, and bandwidth limits. The Duplicati core is MIT licensed; a separate `proprietary/` component is covered by a distinct Duplicati Inc. license. Releases are GPG-signed, and the project is backed by an active community forum and documentation site.
