About WinDiskWriter

WinDiskWriter is an open-source macOS app for creating bootable USB Windows installers that support both UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes. It allows users to install Windows on a PC, Intel Mac, or certain virtual machines from a single universal USB drive. Notable features include patching the Windows 11 installer to bypass TPM, Secure Boot, and minimum RAM requirements, adding EFI boot support to Windows Vista and 7 (which don't support it natively), and automatically splitting large install.wim files to fit FAT32's 4GB file size limit. WinDiskWriter supports Windows images from Vista through Windows 11 in both x64 and x32 architectures, and runs on macOS versions from Snow Leopard 10.6 through the latest Tahoe 26.0, on both Intel and Apple Silicon. The app is written in Objective-C and relies on wimlib for WIM file manipulation and optionally grub4dos for Legacy BIOS support.
