About Zipline

Zipline is a self-hosted file upload server designed as a modern alternative for ShareX and similar screenshot/file-sharing tools, described by its creator as 'the next generation ShareX / File upload server.' It supports uploading any file type, organizing uploads into folders and tags, URL shortening, rich embeds, and both Discord and generic HTTP webhooks for upload notifications. Authentication options include OAuth2, two-factor authentication, and passkeys, with optional password protection on individual uploads. The server automatically handles image compression and generates video thumbnails, and exposes a full API alongside PWA support for installable access. Additional features include partial/resumable uploads, invite-based user registration, per-user quotas, and custom theming. Zipline v4 was a complete rewrite from v3 with no direct upgrade path, though it includes a built-in importer to migrate data from v3 installations. It's deployed via Docker with PostgreSQL as the required database, supports both local filesystem and S3-compatible storage backends, and requires a CPU with AVX support. Zipline is released under the MIT License.
